Sausages in a ceramic pot

Well, do you remember my Lovely dinner with eggplants? As I mentioned there, I have bought those blue pans on Christmas’ sale in Duka. On the very same sale, I bought two pots. They were not as cheap as I would like them to were, but I literally fell in love. I went out of the shop and to the car into the parking thinking I should go home but… yep, I got back and bought them. I’m a woman, what more should I do when I really like something that much?  Of course, as for the pans, 3 months later I finally found myself wondering what to do with the pots. I remembered how my mother was doing sausages in ceramic pots when I was younger and I thought – why not? Of course, I edited her receipt in order to make it bit healthier. What do you need in order to cook sausages in a ceramic pot (for 2)? 2 pots 🙂 sausages (I prefer to buy such that are having Bulgarian food tradition standard mark) – approximately 4 BGN for 2 sausages cheese (~ 300-400 grams) – 7 to 10 (or more) BGN per kilo 2 eggs – 2 to 4 BGN for 6 to 12 eggs pack tomato chutney (Bulgarian luitenitsa) (~300 grams) – up to 5-6 BGN for a jar (or if you’re lucky like me, you’ll have it from your grandma 🙂 ) Step 1: Baking the sausage: Take the sausages out of the package and cut them slightly only on the Read More

Lovely dinner with eggplants

There are a lot of things that I really love doing whole weekend – being home, being close to Daniel, being close to my adopted fish (yep, I have adopted a fish last year). I love sitting on the couch early in the morning, watching through the window of our brand new, scandi furnished apartment, and relaxing. I love reading or just standing there, making plans for the rest of the day or the upcoming week. Most of the time it’s quiet and calm and I can almost feel the serenity in the air. Real peace, real home, real love – piece of heaven. It took us a lot to find, redo and furnish our home, but still there are a lot more to be done. So, I’m using this almost-furnished kitchen cause I’m … well, supposed to, I guess? Why did we buy all of this kitchen stuffs otherwise? And while cooking during work week is almost killing me, cooking in the weekends is actually nice. Most of the time, I’m cooking something for dinner, as 90% of the time we’re having a coffee and lunch at the same time somewhere out. Especially when the weather is good and we’re not risking our lives (like freezing, drawing or burning) we do prefer to be out of the apartment, walking, gathering moments, so on… After that, we do prefer to stay home not doing anything 🙂 And then – I’m ok with the cooking thing.  So, 3 or 4 weeks ago, I have finally used Read More

Healthy breakfast #2 – oatmeal pancakes

It was a nice Sunday morning when I have decided to do those oatmeal pancakes that I saw on Facebook last week. The whole recipe was like video tutorial uploaded by Tasty. If you don’t know what Tasty is… well, better check it right away 🙂 So, speaking of the video, Tasty’s pancakes were really good-looking, easy to prepare and moreover – healthy. If I have to be honest, I was thinking that these pancakes are actually tasty as the regular ones (that is why I initially decided to do them). Hell no! They almost look like real pancakes, and even smell like them, but trust me – they do not taste like real ones. Not even close. Sorry. BUT! Daniel is claiming that they are good (with a lot of chocolate 🙂 ). You can, of course, keep them healthy (like me) like just eating them with honey, or fruits. Or both. Together with something to support their initial taste, these are actually eatable and you can even close your eyes and pretend to like them. What do you need? fine oat flakes (~200 grams) – 2 to 3 BGN for a kilo package 3 bananas – up to 2 BGN per kilo 3 eggs – 2 to 4 BGN for 6 to 12 eggs pack olive oil (1 tablespoon) – 15 to 20 BGN per kilo baking powder (a teaspoon) – up to 1 BGN for a package (~20 teaspoons) vanilla – no more than 0.20 to 0.50 BGN per dose What to do? Healthy breakfast – salty cake with cheese

Together with Daniel, we have decided to eat healthy, low carb foods. Many of our friends are trying to avoid all carbs and they are all saying how good is that, so based on my researches and I have decided to at least give it a shot? We are also trying to avoid the sugar as this is a well-known “bad” food and moreover, sugar is not really good for my seborrhea (oh, yeah, I got that shit couple of years ago and we’re living together “happily” ever after since then). One of our weekend routines was having a big, fat (fabulous) Starbucks coffee and eating something really “healthy” like pancakes 🙂  And before you even start explaining to me how bad is my Starbucks – save your time – I do know everything you could bring on, and I’m fully aware of your concerns. I’m also really happy every single time when I have my coffee with my boy and would prefer that instead of everything you could offer. A couple of weeks ago, after having my coffee, I have prepared a healthy low-carb cake with cheese. Read that twice – it is low-carb, not zero-carb. Initially, I took the receipt from Healthy with Deni’s blog (here you can find her receipt) but I have adapted it together with the receipt I know from my mom. It is really easy I promise. You have to buy the following ingredients: einkorn flour (~200 grams) – 3 to 4 BGN for 300-500 grams package flaxseed flour (~100 grams) Read More

Cooking for dummies

Back in the years behind my back, I was good. I did really great sandwiches and pasta. My mom, God bless her, was trying to make us humans, not chefs, so we grew up reading books, playing and eating sandwiches 🙂 My grandma, on the other hand, was and still is, one of the best master chefs all over the world. She is able to make everything from nothing, and moreover – she is making it delicious. I can smell her dishes miles away and can spot them with my eyes closed. Now I’m trying to steal some of her recipes, but as you can imagine, it’s not the same! And maybe it would never be. However, back in the years, I was trying from time to time with my sandwiches and pasta, and when I became adult it turns out that I’m not as good as I thought. Firstly – you can’t survive on sandwiches and pasta if you want to be healthy and less than 200 kilos. Secondly – you became bored with that. You want more. So, yes, it’s true! I’m really trying to cook. Keyword – trying. What I don’t get with my trying is why my dishes look alike vomit at least 90% of the time and have almost the same taste in the rest 10%? I’m honestly giving my best. I’m almost strictly following the recipes and I always buy good stuff from the market (like ‘happy chickens’ eggs, bio shits, wholemeal flour and so on). I also have Read More
