Sausages in a ceramic pot

Well, do you remember my Lovely dinner with eggplants? As I mentioned there, I have bought those blue pans on Christmas’ sale in Duka. On the very same sale, I bought two pots. They were not as cheap as I would like them to were, but I literally fell in love. I went out of the shop and to the car into the parking thinking I should go home but… yep, I got back and bought them. I’m a woman, what more should I do when I really like something that much?

Of course, as for the pans, 3 months later I finally found myself wondering what to do with the pots. I remembered how my mother was doing sausages in ceramic pots when I was younger and I thought – why not? Of course, I edited her receipt in order to make it bit healthier.

What do you need in order to cook sausages in a ceramic pot (for 2)?

  • 2 pots 🙂
  • sausages (I prefer to buy such that are having Bulgarian food tradition standard mark) – approximately 4 BGN for 2 sausages
  • cheese (~ 300-400 grams) – 7 to 10 (or more) BGN per kilo
  • 2 eggs – 2 to 4 BGN for 6 to 12 eggs pack
  • tomato chutney (Bulgarian luitenitsa) (~300 grams) – up to 5-6 BGN for a jar (or if you’re lucky like me, you’ll have it from your grandma 🙂 )

Step 1: Baking the sausage:

  1. Take the sausages out of the package and cut them slightly only on the top of their surface both on the front and on the back side.
  2. Put baking paper in a pan and put the sausages in it.
  3. Bake the sausages 20 minutes on 200 degrees.
  4. Take them out.

Step 2: Making the pot:

  1. Cut the cheese into mid-sized cubs. Put it on the bottom of the pot like a layer.
  2. Cut the sausages’ into 7-8-9-10… pieces and put them all over the cheese.
  3. Put half of the tomato chutney over to sausages like another thick layer.
  4. Crack the egg on the top of that.
  5. Close the pot with the lid and bake 20 to 25 minutes on 180 degrees.
  6. Turn off the oven and carefully remove the lid from the pot. Leave the pot in the oven for a couple of more minutes.
  7. Serve right away and eat.
